What I've learned

from over 20 years

in recruitment.

A career spent on the recruitment side of the desk

More than 20 years of recruitment experience, across agency, in-house and consultancy environments.

I’ve spent more than 20 years working in recruitment, across agency, in-house and consultancy environments, as well as running my own recruitment business for eight years. During that time, I’ve recruited across different sectors, countries and career levels, from people taking their first steps into work through to senior leaders.

That experience has meant reviewing thousands of CVs, interviewing candidates at every career stage, and working closely with hiring managers to understand what they really want. It has also shown me how often capable, experienced people struggle to communicate what they have to offer, not because they lack the experience, but because presenting it clearly on a CV, LinkedIn profile or in an interview is a very different skill.

What that experience has taught me

Recruitment isn't simply about having the right experience. How clearly you communicate that experience can make an enormous difference.

I've seen strong candidates overlooked because their CV, LinkedIn profile or interview didn't make their value clear. I've also seen relatively small changes make a significant difference.

“My aim is simple: practical advice, grounded in real recruitment experience, that helps you present yourself at your best.”
